- Status changed from new to closed
- Resolution set to worksforme
I find no place where categories are ordered that way...

My blogs (both public and admin pages) show categories with the first I ever created (computers on http://www.extrapepperoni.com/) at the top, the second (people on EP) below it, all the way down to edit (the latest) at the bottom of the list.

Categories’ position in the list is set in each categorie’s admin page.

The Reorder feature doesn't work, at least for me. categories.php shows drag rectangles by each category, but they aren't actually draggable in Safari/Mac? or Firefox/Mac?.

categories are not draggable for the moment : you have to clic on the categry title to edit the category and (among other options) modify its position ;-)

Indeed, Chris: the drag & drop feature disappeared when sub-categories were introduced. We are fully aware that it is sorely missing, but we do not plan to allocate resources to this now as we have other plans for categories which would render that development obsolete (translation: our resources being what they are now, it would take too much time for a non critical and temporary solution.)
In the meantime, as Noe noticed, the categories can be sorted, in their own current troublesome way. I'm keeping this ticket closed.

I understand the decision, but in the meantime almost nobody knows categories can be resorted or how. Please add an explanation to the Categories page, perhaps just under "This will relocate all categories on the top level". I suggest something like "Click on a category to edit its position."
Also, the existing text is confusing:
Reorder categories This will relocate all categories on the top level Reorder
What does this actually do now, if anything?
Where ?
